Dearest Bill and Family: I was saddened to learn only today of Joan's passing. Diane found out through attending the Welshmen's choir event this past weekend in Delta and just informed me. Our deepest condolences go out to you all and we pray that her Soul rests in Eternal Peace. Please let me know if I can do anything and I would love to catch up via phone when you are available. Meanwhile, I remember Joan fondly with our memories of many events, trips and celebrations at Norrell. I know she and my late Mum, Zarina, must be spending time laughing in the Eternal gardens of peace and light together. With love to you all. Sincerely, Jan

Bill, Grace and I are saddened by the news of Joan's passing. Joan was a kind, wonderful lady whose presence lit up the room. We have fond memories of our time on the tour bus together in the UK and Grace enjoyed spending time with Joan when they participated together in the FOTC activities. Regretfully we are unable to attend the memorial service due to work commitments. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family and we wish you strength and comfort during this difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,
Chris Wiggins

Dear Bill and family
Joan was a great friend, a wonderful hostess, fun to be with on our many tours with the VWMC. The devastating Alzheimer disease slowly took away the bubbly good humoured friend, may Joan now be at Peace.
Blessings always Sheena

Dear Bill and all the family, we always think of Joan in her crazy costumes, her ‘more stuff for every occasion’, the night you and Joan drove down the street around midnight and caught dear Andy sneaking across to your steps to decorate the reindeer with real droppings before Christmas, the complex and wonderful dinners Joan made including rote reeba (spelling) that we have called our pickled beets ever since…We will always remember Joan with that wicked laugh and her smiling eyes. The last years must have been very hard on all of you. We will make a donation to the Parkgate Alzheimer’s Group in North Vancouver. They have developed a highly respected respite care programme that incorporates the Rec Centre and wonderful outdoor spaces and pathways that we walked so many times with Joan, Carmel and Fern.
Sending you our love and sympathies,
Bronwyn, Graham, Katy, Jill and family. Xxxx

Joan's friendly, talkative and empathetic personality was totally at odds with the latter years of her life, dealing with the debilitating effects of Alzheimers. We will fondly remember her as she was: fun and fully engaged with the spirit of life and living. Much, much love, Joan.
Stella and Mike Mackwood.
