I met Joan while working at B…
I met Joan while working at Barcelona wine bar where we quickly became really close friends. Joan was so full of life and always had a spark in her eyes and the most beautiful smile and laugh. I will miss all of our laughter, jokes, sharing music, going to shows and going on adventures together.  She was one of my closest friends and I miss her so much. Until we meet again my sweet Joanie 💕💕 my heart goes out to your family and all those who were close to you. I love you.
We are sending love and prayers to you and your family.

Dear, Jane,

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful daughter. May God comfort you and your family during this difficult time.

With deepest sympathy,

Brenda Testa

I remember meeting Joan while in middle school. She was the light in the room and was always such a warm, welcoming, and kind person. I didn’t have many friends but Joan welcomed me with open arms. I remember many Friday nights at the ice rink skating, or trying to skate, to whatever the latest songs were and just having a blast. She was the kindest, most beautiful soul and person and will be missed dearly by many.

I was sad when I heard the news of Joan's passing.  I never had the pleasure of meeting Joan, but from all the comments made, she sounds like a very special person.  I work with Jane Briggs her mom and wanted to reach out to express my support.    My condolences go out to Jane and her family on this tragic loss.
We’re heartbroken to hear of Joan’s passing. My partner and I live in a building next door to Thirsty Crow and saw Joan  frequently when we popped into the bar for a drink and a chat, or simply walked the dog. She was such a bright light who always gave just the right amount of sass alongside a natural kindness she couldn’t have hidden even if she’d wanted to. And what a laugh she had! It was impossible to hear it without grinning from ear to ear. We’ll think of her beautiful spark all the time, and we send our most heartfelt condolences to her loved ones.
After moving to Bowie as a 10 year old, I was very nervous I wouldn’t make new friends as quickly as I’d hoped. But that wasn’t the case. I instantly connected with Joan. We were so close- sleepovers, trips, etc. Her smile is one I’ll never forget because she never hid it. We were not only classmates but really close friends. She truly was a lovely person and will be missed dearly.

Joan and I met when we were 11 years old on the first day of gym class. Joan instantly soothed my “new day of school” anxiety with her natural ability to make anyone smile, laugh & feel comfortable in her presence. She instantly became such an amazing bestfriend, bringing so much joy with her remarkable & witty sense of humor.

Anyone who met Joan loved her, because Joan had this natural ability to make friends wherever she went. People were drawn to Joan by her Golden Soul, genuine sincerity, & confident energy. Joan sincerely touched everyone she met, she was a trustworthy social butterfly. She was the sharpest girl I knew, and she positively inspired me to work just as hard as her. Joan never ceased to amaze me on how clever, brilliant, passionate, intelligent, gifted, crafty, artistic, and logical she was as a person. They say no one is perfect, but Joan may have been the exception.

Her laugh was infectious and radiant. Joan was truly a rare genuine Golden Soul, she authentically carried angel energy among us. I’m truly so lucky to have known Joan, she always pushed me towards doing the right thing. She left an undeniable positive impact on every life she’s touched. I cherish every single memory with Joan and her family deeply. The Briggs family accepted me with open arms, during my hardest times, blessing me with some of my best childhood memories which I am eternally grateful for and cherish so deeply. My deepest prayers & condolences to the Briggs family, and all of Joan’s friends who she’s touched over the years during this difficult time.

I met Joan in high school as a friend of a friend and the warmth and kindness she extended towards me has never been forgotten. Joan helped me to feel like I belonged in my skin, she introduced me to others that became lifelong friends as well, and she always made me feel like I belonged. Years later when we ran into each other after falling out of touch, it was like no time had passed at all and she was still as kind as she ever had been. The world deserved more of her presence. I wish I had shared with her how much she influenced the direction of my life. We are all lucky to have known her. We love you Joan, thank you for always being a light in our world.
I went to high school with Joan and remember her as one of the bubbliest, sweetest and most unique people I've ever met. My heart breaks for her loved ones. May her lively spirit live on in those whose lives she's touched.
