With great sadness the family of Joan Marie Barbera announce her passing on Monday, November 4, 2019, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 81 in Manteca, CA. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Barbera , her mother Lauretta Barbera, long term partner Tommy Cobb and brother Dominic Barbera. She is survived by her sisters, Josie Young (Ed) , Juanita Barbera, Barbara Vierra (Joseph), Donna Barbera-Diaz (Tim), Lucy Ferguson (Pete), Patricia Hansen (David), nephew James A. Barbera, many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchild, Brayden J. Vierra. Joan was educated in New York and graduated with a degree of dental hygiene and worked as a licensed dental hygienist. After practicing dental hygiene she traveled the world as a flight attendant retiring from TIA airline and returned to practice dental hygiene until she retired again. She gave effortlessly of her time and energy to many including the Manteca Senior Center, Manteca Police / Sharps, Doctors Hospital of Manteca, American Red Cross, AARP Tax Preparer, Manteca Visitors Center, St. Anthony's Church, also supported many other charities. Per Joan's wishes no funeral services will be held, but we appreciate all the love and support and encourage everyone to share their favorite memories of Joan on this memorial website.
