Jo Ann Borland (née Roseberry), 92, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. She was born on December 6, 1932, in Marion, Ohio, and devoted her life to education, faith, and family.
A graduate of Marion Harding High School, Jo Ann pursued her passion for teaching at Ashland College, where she majored in education. Her career as an educator began in Marion and San Antonio before she continued shaping young minds at Oneida Elementary School in Middletown, Ohio. Beyond the classroom, Jo Ann’s dedication to her faith was evident through her active membership at the First Baptist Church of Middletown and service as a Sunday School teacher. She was a longtime member of Church Women United and Meals on Wheels in Middletown, leaving a lasting impact on her community through her unwavering commitment to service and spiritual devotion.
Jo Ann was the cherished wife of the late Charles “Chuck” Borland. She is lovingly remembered by her son James and his wife Cindy; their children Drew, Jessica, Megan, and Stephanie Brockman (husband Michael); her daughter MaryAnn and her husband Mike Brilleslyper; their daughters Emma and Meg; and her son William and his wife Elizabeth; their daughters Miranda and Reagan. Through them, Jo Ann’s legacy of love, learning, and faith will continue to flourish.
In recent years, Jo Ann moved to Florida to be near her daughter MaryAnn. Together they shared countless treasured moments that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
The family will honor Jo Ann’s remarkable life with a private service. Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Habitat for Humanities, Meals on Wheels, or First Baptist Church of Middletown (OH).
While Jo Ann will be deeply missed by those who knew her, the values she lived by and the lives she touched remain a testament to her enduring spirit. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
