Jim's obituary

Devine, James Andrew “Jim”, 40, Johnstown, passed away unexpectedly June 23, 2024. Born January 5, 1984, son of James L. and Carol (Sukenik) Devine. Preceded in death by paternal grandfather, James Q. Devine; and maternal grandparents, John and Mae Sukenik. Survived by loving parents; brother, Matthew Devine and wife Amanda; sister, Sarah Devine and fiancé Josh Phillips; grandmother, Gracie Devine; niece, Quinn Devine; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and a vast number of friends. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a student/mentor in the martial arts, starting out as a youngster in Tang So Do and working his way up to training in NYC in MMA gyms, weightlifting gyms and his all-time favorite, the Sambo gym. He took great pride in being a self-taught programmer and transitioned into being a machine learning engineer. Jim was a nomad, finding happiness in traveling and exploring new places. His other hobbies included being out in nature, whether it was archery hunting, fishing or just walking around! Above all, Jim loved people and spending time with his family and friends. Family and friends will be received Friday June 28th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 1521 Frankstown Rd. Additional viewing will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Belmont Community Church. Pastor Tom Moore, officiating.
