The few years Jim and I worked together at Resurgens Orthopaedics at Johns Creek was a pleasure. Jim was compassionate towards all his patients and his simple laid back humbleness was appreciated by all he came in contact with. His love for UGA was second only to his love and devotion of his family. I always enjoyed having Jim as a colleague and friend.
Mel, I was so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I will forever remember Jim as a kind and caring person always willing to help someone in an way that he could. I pray that God will load you and the girls up with His peace and comfort as you remember your sweet Jim.

2016, At Mell's & Jim's home

After our graduation of Master Gardeners, I  met Jimmy; since the I became very familiar with both. Sharing food  dishes that he enjoyed,  whenever I  came to visit them, I saw in his face his friendship expression, gentle, caring person. He always will live in our hearts  such a very good friend.

Mel,

May our Lord hold you, especially close to His heart, and comfort you and your family during this time of sorrow.

I count it a blessing to have worked with Jim, though briefly at Resurgens. He truly was a gentle giant.

Mel, I am sorry for your loss. I did not know Jim very well. However, the few times I was in his company I did sense he had a gentle and kind way about him. May all the memories you shared be a blessing for you to cherish.  With love, Gina
I was associated with Jim during his tenure as an assistant athletic trainer at East Tennessee State University.  Jim was one of the kindest people l have ever met. Always willing to help. I learned a lot from him. Mel, my condolences to you and your family. RIP my friend!
I’m so sorry to hear this news, Jim was an assistant athletic trainer at East Tennessee State University my junior and senior years. I always enjoyed my time with him…May the Lord wrap his arms around Mel and his family during this difficult time.
How can you continue on?  YOU with God's help will find that way.  Jim is free now.  God Bless You in your future paths.
Your sweet Jim was a great friend to Gary as they grew up together in Irwin County Schools.  I’m so thankful that friendship never ended.  It was a blessing to know him.  Praying for peace and comfort for you all.
Jim was a great guy and will be missed by many.  We will be thinking of you and your family.
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. I know that this loss will leave a huge hole in your heart and I am sorry for the pain you are going through.
My condolences to Jim's family. We went through school together through the 11th grade.  As young children, the Brannens played football in their yard while my cousins and I played in the dirt at my grandparents' across the street.  In school Jim was rather quiet but you always knew he was there, in class, football games, everything.  I am so sorry for your loss.   You will be in my prayers.
Mel, Katy, Rebecca, & family and Ed, Robert, and Bonnie & families- I am so saddened to hear about Jim. The world surely has a big spot to fill because Jim was such a genuinely good guy. My heart is filled with the best of memories. Love to you all.
I had to sit down when reading Jim’s life story. Our family was part of that story when our families were young and growing. It was a wonderful time to be with the Brannens. May God give Mel, Katie and Rebecca comfort in their days of mourning both today and everyday.
He was a great friend, always upbeat. He managed our football team at Irwin County with energy and compassion. Never hear anyone utter a negative word about Jim.

As Jim’s sister in law, I can attest to everything shared in the exceptionally well-written obituary. Jim presence in our family has been an incredible gift.

I would like to highlight the part in the obituary that speaks of Jim’s willingness and ability to help others via phone; I’m one of them. As an athlete and very active person, I’ve had my share of injuries that required treatment, yet with limited financial resources, going to a facility hasn’t always been an option for me.

Jim was ALWAYS the one I called with my various injuries, even two knee injuries the past two years. He walked me through the steps I needed to take and made sure of my follow-through.

My successful recovery from the injuries is because of Jim. He loved others by using his skillset and acumen to advise and teach.

I’m so grateful to be able to highlight this particular aspect of Jim. I’ve been so blessed to be his sister in law.

I am so sorry to hear this about Jim. We were coworkers at Concentra and he was a great PT. I remember him being a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan.
Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Mel and all Jim’s family. We send our love and prayers for the days ahead as you grieve his passing. God’s peace and strength to all of you.

Mel, Bruce and I are so moved by your courage and by Jim’s courage as he advanced thru his illness. We remember our games together as our Gators played those Dawgs! We’ll miss Jim and we know he has left a hole in your lives. We will pray for all of you as you navigate your new normal in this life.

Much love, Jody and Bruce Brawner

Mel - how devastating to hear this news! I’m just beyond sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the sadness you must be experiencing. My heart is with you and your family.
Mel,  I am so sorry to hear about Jim.  Know you are in my thoughts and prayers.    🙏🙏❤️❤️
I am so sorry we will be out of the country and cannot come to celebrate Jim’s life with you. I know he was a kind and gentle man and will be very missed. Sending love and light as you move through this time of grieving. May his memory be a blessing to you.
