Jessie's obituary

Jessie Lenore Guadalupe Liverett Wray

October 26, 1955 – November 11, 2024

Jessie Wray, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on November 11, 2024, after enduring several difficult years with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Born on October 26, 1955, Jessie grew up in Rancho Cordova, California, where she graduated from West Cordova High School in 1973. She went on to earn her degree in Finance from California State University, Sacramento, in 1982, and began her career working at the State Capitol.

In 1985, Jessie married the love of her life, David Wray, and together they raised their daughter, Jessica, in sunny San Diego. Jessie was a woman of joy, bringing laughter and comfort to those around her. She was also an active woman of many talents and passions, from competitive swimming and golf to crafting and creating elaborate stained glass. She and David shared a love for adventure, RVing across U.S. national parks and Baja California with either Smokey or Nala, her beloved dogs, by her side.

A woman of faith, Jessie was a devoted follower of Jesus, and her love for others was evident in everything she did. She had a creative spirit, one that she passed on to her daughter. Jessie crafted a magical childhood for her only daughter, Jessica, through painted ceilings, colorful murals, and summers spent outdoors. Even in the face of illness, Jessie continued to create beautiful stained glass pieces, a testament to her enduring passion and talent.

Jessie’s life was a reflection of her love for God, her family, and her friends. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her playful spirit, and her loving heart. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica, and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. We can be grateful that Jessie is free from suffering and lives on in Heaven. In the words of Jesus, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” – John 11:25

Due to the tribulations surrounding Jessie’s final years, her family will be taking personal time to grieve. Those close to Jessie will be informed if any planned gatherings set closer to the holidays take place.

To honor Jessie, we ask that you think of her the next time you partake in something she loved, such as bike riding, swimming, yoga, or creating art. You are also welcome to share some happy memories and photos here, via the ‘Memories’ tab.  Additionally, any donations made in Jessie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association will support care and research for ending all dementia-related diseases.
