It’s been one year since Jessie was taken away from us and it still doesn’t feel real. We’re all coping but are still crushed. Not a day goes by that she is not thought of. We spent 4 weeks together from morning to night and I got to know Jessica in a very intimate way in that time and I absolutely loved her-! She was so funny and kind and understanding, comforting and so much fun to be around. I kept telling her how much I loved that her hair was parted on the side and that my part had always been in the middle and I didn’t like it. She started brushing my hair every day and parting it on the side and by the end of those weeks together my part had actually changed-! I think about that and her all the time when I am brushing my hair and looking in the mirror. It sounds silly but she gave me courage to push up against the things about myself that I thought couldn’t be changed. We shared so much in those weeks together and I will never forget you Jessica.
