Jesse L. "Butchie" Symlar passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 20, 2025, at 9:41 p.m. at the D.C. VA Medical Center under hospice care due to late-stage acute renal kidney failure. Born on August 4, 1951, Jesse lived a life shaped by dedication, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those he cared for. Jesse was a man who worked tirelessly, devoting countless hours to provide for his family. Though his work often demanded much of his time and energy, he made every effort to be present for the moments that mattered most. When he wasn’t working, he spent cherished time with his children, helping with schoolwork and attending as many of their activities as possible. Even when distance or circumstance kept him from being physically present, he remained connected—calling daily, sharing conversations that stretched for hours, always ensuring his love and guidance were felt. Life was not without its challenges, but Jesse faced them with quiet strength. His wisdom was often imparted through personal lessons; he encouraged learning from mistakes rather than dwelling on them. His presence in the lives of those who knew him was profound—solid as a foundation yet always carrying an air of mystery. In later years, Jesse faced physical hardships with the same endurance that had defined him throughout life. Even as his vision declined and mobility became more difficult, he continued to persevere with dignity. Those close to him saw not just a man struggling against time but a father whose strength had once seemed unshakable—a presence that left an indelible mark. Jesse Lee Symlar was not perfect by any means—but perfection was never the measure of love or devotion. He was the best father his children could have hoped for, steadfast in his own way and deeply loved in return. May his memory bring comfort and warmth to all who knew him.
