While I didn't know Jess as well as many of you over the last 10 years of his life, I did know him from the time he 5 or 6 until his passing. What he gave to me was very special. He gave me the chance to see what being a father might one day feel like.  How, you may ask? By being one of the best kids (along with Kadin) that I had the pleasure to babysit, the pleasure to watch, and the pleasure to listen to as we made crafts or played games or just wrestled on the floor. The thing is, is that Jess made me feel special and he always did when ever I saw him as he grew up and matured and became a man.  The last time I got to sit and talk with Jess he was so excited to see me that I was stunned. I now know that this was just Jess being Jess and that he did this with everyone. I will miss him and will always be grateful to have known him throughout his life.

My wife and I lost our son five years ago. He was only fifteen.

Every now and then I google his name just so I can see the familiar photos the internet has and I can reminisce. His name was Jesse.

This morning, while I was doing that I came across your Jesse. I’m envious that you got to spend more time with yours than I did with mine. But these are thoughts that go nowhere fast. We’re both grieving, I’ve just been doing it a little longer than you. It still hurts just as much as it did the first day. I see it’s only been a week since you lost your son. You’re gonna make it. You’ll get through this. But it will be the worst thing you’ll ever experience. The loss will never make sense or feel justified. WHY will never get answered and I am so sorry for that. His absence will be excruciatingly loud. My heart is with you. My prayers are with you and your family. Jesse is with the stars now.

Dear Kadin and Pasley family,

I am so incredibly sorry to learn of your loss. I truly cannot imagine what you must be going through and am so sorry you must now walk this path. I didn’t know Jesse, but, in knowing Kadin, I am certain he must have been a kind and wonderful person who positively impacted so many individuals while he was here. 

May he now be everywhere all at once.
