I’m Loving Memory of Jesse Lee Kirkland, Sr.

Jesse Lee Kirkland, Sr. was born on September 30, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio, to Lou Emma Kirkland and Less Riley Kirkland, who both preceded him in death. Jesse peacefully passed away on December 19, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, following a long illness.

Jesse was a loving brother, father, uncle, and grandfather whose presence meant so much to those who knew him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sisters Carol Kirkland, Karen Kirkland-Wyse, Jackie Kirkland, and Brenda Kirkland-Waites. He was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl Kirkland-Paul. Jesse also leaves behind his beloved sons, Jesse Kirkland Jr. and Javon Kirkland, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who brought him great joy.

Jesse attended Start High School from 1972 to 1975, where he studied business administration. In 1975, he proudly joined the United States Navy, serving his country with dedication and honor.

In his everyday life, Jesse found happiness in simple pleasures. He loved fishing, drawing, and cooking, and he especially enjoyed watching football and basketball. Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength, his creativity, and the warmth he brought into a room. His smile, stories, and love for family will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Jesse’s life was one of resilience, love, and connection. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
