It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jesse "Bud" Dodson on November 20, 2025. Born on February 19, 1947, Jesse was a man of steadfast determination and an unwavering love for his family. He embraced his given name, Jesse, while also answering warmly to the affable moniker, 'Bud'.

Jesse was best known for his hard-working nature and his tremendous strength in surrounding himself with family, always putting their needs above his own. He was a living embodiment of the wisdom he often shared: hard work pays off. Rising above adversity was one of Jesse's greatest accomplishments. This ethos was not only a personal mantra but also a practical demonstration of his strength and perseverance, leaving a remarkable impact on those around him.

The defining legacy of Jesse's life was his son, Craig Dodson. However, his love and influence extended well beyond his immediate family. Jesse is survived by his son Craig, his daughter-in-law Kelly Sims, his step-daughter Regina, sisters Gwen and Annie Dodson, nieces Deanna Dodson, Mallory Dodson, Chandra Thornton, and nephews Denario Dodson, Lorenzo Dodson Jr. and Brandon Dodson.

Before his passing, Jesse mourned the loss of his beloved brother Lorenzo Dodson, sister Mae Francis Holmes, mother Myrtle Dodson, and grandmother Lou Ella Walker, all of whom had predeceased him.

Jesse's passing leaves a void in the lives of those he touched. His hard-working nature, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he had for his family will be deeply missed. We take solace in the lasting legacy he created, particularly through his son Craig, and the memories we will forever cherish.

A private family service to commemorate Jesse's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with his final expenses. We ask that you keep the Dodson family in your thoughts during this challenging time.
