Jerry's obituary
March 21, 1958 - September 12, 2019
On September 12, 2019, while surrounded by his family, Jerry Joe Yeats left this earth to be with Jesus.
Jerry spent his life in Mansfield, Texas married to his high school sweetheart, Karen and together they built a beautiful life full of family, friendships and hospitality.
Whether it was a fence that needed mending, a car that needed fixing
or a light to be wired, Jerry Yeats could do it all. He loved a good project and was always on the hunt for the next one. He spent countless hours in his garage, which was more than a space to park vehicles, it was a place of community that parked many memories and life lessons. He opened his heart and home to all who knew him and he never met a stranger. Jerry was tough as nails and proved time and time again that there wasn’t an obstacle he couldn’t cross.
If you asked Jerry what he was most proud of, it wouldn’t be the cars he restored or the projects he built, it would be his family and the legacy he leaves behind. Jerry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Yeats, daughter Megan Yeats Koudelka, her husband Craig and their daughters Micaela and Campbell, daughter Rachel Yeats Grossman, her husband Brian and their children Adalynn and Colt, daughter Emily Yeats Eardley, her husband Randy and their children Ava and Zane. Father, Henry Yeats and wife May of Alvarado, Texas, Brother John and wife Sharon of Jefferson City, Missouri, brother Tom and wife Glenda of Millsap, Texas, sister Sue and husband Wayne of Arlington, Texas and brother Larry and wife Caroline of Mansfield, Texas, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Services for Jerry Joe Yeats will be held at 2pm Sunday, September 15 at Lakeside Church of Christ in Mansfield. The service will be followed by tall tales, jokes, and life lessons in the garage--just how Jerry would want it.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
