Jerry's obituary
🕊️ Obituary for Jerry Victory Speed (1933–2025)
Jerry Victory Speed, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born on January 25, 1933, in Georgia, where his journey began — one defined by integrity, service, and devotion to family.
A proud veteran of both the United States Navy and Marine Corps, Jerry served his country with honor, including time stationed in China during his military career. His years in service reflected the discipline, strength, and quiet leadership he carried with him throughout his life.
After returning home, Jerry built a legacy not only through his character but through his work. He was the founder and owner of Speed’s Maintenance, a business he proudly operated for decades, providing for his family and community with consistency, reliability, and care.
Above all, Jerry was a family man — deeply committed to those he loved. He was a great-grandfather, a father, and a steady presence for generations. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gladys Mary Speed, who passed in 2011. He is survived by his children: Artieja McKay, Oscar Pierce, Jerry Speed Jr., Jerry Lynn Speed, Kevin Speed, Lynette Valquez, James Speed, Joseph Speed, and Rachel Speed. His love, guidance, and example live on through them and through his large family of about 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his legacy forward.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of family, and the quiet strength he carried into every chapter of his life.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
