Jerry was the leader of a discipleship summer project house, and I had the privilege of rooming with him. He led us through studies of the Bible, exercises on how to share our faith, and general great times of growing in the Lord and enjoying each other. That summer with Jerry was a major significant strengthening time for me. His investment in my life was a major influence to my future life with Christ, even to this day.
A few years later, Jerry set his course toward Bible translation, which was a great inspiration for me. I saw the tremendous value and Biblical calling to this work, and began pursuing service in that ministry as well. Thank you, Jerry, for being faithful to God's calling, and for being a role model and strong motivation for others, like me!
I was also privileged to have Jerry as my Best Man when Debbie and I got married. He later told me that he left MY wedding and drove to Sue's house to ask her to pray about getting married and going to Papua New Guinea to translate the Bible. And the rest... is history...

One of Neil and my first dates was the 4th of July fireworks with the Pfaffs. The kids were small and I thought it would be a good test to see how Neil did with families. He did great. Jerry navigated us perfectly around and through the DC crowd on that 4th. Fantastic memories were made!!

Wow! What an amazing and talented family. Thank you for sharing Jerry's memorial service. The videos of his life... What a testament of a man dedicated to God's Word and desiring to share it with the people of PNG. Thank you for putting it together. I loved getting to know more through watching it.
Pfaff family, my heart goes out to you! Thanks for being a blessing.
Jeni Guy for our family, currently at JAARS, headed to home in PA, served in Ukarumpa from 2011-2019.
PS I remember being part of a group playing songs one Christmas that the Pfaffs led. It was lots of fun!

We watched the memorial service, and shared the sentiments of the room. Jerry will be missed here, but we're grateful that Sue is carrying on in the Lord's strength.

I tried to post the video with Jerry in it that was done for the JAARS Scripture Celebration, but it wouldn't post through the "video" tool above. I'm going to try to put the link here. I'm so glad that after the event, our videographer chose to put some of the Nali dedication video at the beginning - "God has not forgotten you!"

Thank you for sharing the recording of the memorial service, as I had a schedule conflict during the live stream time. Jerry would have been proud of the beauty of it, the clear presentation of the Gospel, and the giving of glory to Jesus Christ. May God comfort all of you!

Thank you, Nathan, for the memorial videos! Thank you, John N for the memories shared so heartfully and artfully. Thank you, Sue, for being a faithful partner to Jerry and for being God's servant with him to so many people, not the least being the Nali. It's a small thing (of which God does not despise), but I thank you for willingly catching the vision to enable the Nali to produce Bible story videos and for inviting me to come join you in (and under!) your Nali Manus home to train the Story Producer app team . You and Jerry so generously hosted me and countless others over the years. And to think.... Jesus has finished only the first sentence of the first chapter of the story that he is writing for Jerry....! One day there is going to be a celebration the likes you have not even imagined.... Keep hanging on to Jesus! He is not letting you go. You are still in the first sentence He is writing for you. Imagine...! One day we shall SEE!

I just watched the beautiful memorial for your dad and for The love of Sue’s life, Jerry. I remember the first time I met Jerry at Greenwood Hills Bible camp. Sue was my counselor and she introduced me to Jerry. Boy were they in love! That love obviously never stopped it just grew stronger. Fast forward to the year 2000 something. Jerry came home to the states and brought Julie to visit the beautiful mountains of Tioga County Pa. We put them up for a night and as a gift Jerry gave us a bag of coffee from Papua New Guinea. That was the BEST coffee we ever had and we have not been able to find anything close to it here in the states. We had a great time visiting with him and kept in touch through Facebook a bit. Then of course life happened and fast forward Jerry is singing with his Lord! Sue and family, my heart aches for your earthly loss but oh what joy it will be when we see each other again and are sitting at a feast that awaits us hosted by our heavenly Father.

Just finished watching the video of the service. Thanks for making that available. So true that it was Jerry's HEART that people who knew him remembered. When Jerry & Sue were at JAARS during the summer, they made a point of coming to my house and giving me a copy of the Nali Half-NT. Jerry had written inside that I was a part of this project because I had taught Nathan in 3rd grade at Ukarumpa. That's the kind of man he was - make everyone feel welcome, make everyone feel special.
We were so very sad that he could not be part of our JAARS Scripture Celebration, just two weeks after his passing. But we saw the Bible, watched a great video Nathan put together, and Michael P. remembered him and the work he and Sue did in PNG.
My prayers that God will give you comfort and direction, Sue. I think of Grace Fabian and how "lost" she felt after Edmund's death. Yet much good came out of the ways God used her after that event. I know He will guide you. He is writing your story - not someone else's - yours. And it will be good and uniquely suited to you - and to all of you in the family as He enables you to carry on.
I love you all. I think of the times in Bible study and yes, a Thanksgiving or Christmas when I sat around that table in your home. Of all the time and effort Jerry contributed to the administration of Ukarumpa. I know you will carry on Jerry's legacy of giving to others for Christ's sake.

I've watched the service through just now. A life so very well lived. Sue, Julie, Matt and Nathan - and John and Bonnie and Brianna and Eric........ My thoughts are with all of you as you grieve. Lean in to one another - I know you will. It's part of what's beautiful about you all.

from Dianne (Vrieling) Marty in British Columbia, Canada - My deep condolences to Sue, Julie, Matt, and Nathan, and the rest of your family. I was Donna Brown's roommate in 1987, and I remember your warm welcome when I came to your house with her; I also remember well the birth of Matt. The memorial service was wonderful, uplifting, and affirming - honouring Jerry's life and glorifying the King of Kings. Thank you for making it available. Nathan - the video is amazing. So much of it is in your dad's own words!
