Jerry's obituary

Jerry Evans, 89, passed away on February 17 at St. Luke’s Hospice House after a long illness. Jerry was born in Collinsville Oklahoma on May 6, 1934.

 Jerry was a four year graduate at the University of Tulsa. After spending those four years as member of the Tulsa University Golden Hurricane basketball team he graduated and was hired at Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore Oklahoma, where he established and coached the Junior College basketball team. After serving at OMA for 13 years he was hired as one of the basketball coaches at Tulsa University. After four years at the University, he moved to Kansas City to enter the business world with his brothers. 

During the past several years he became known as the Candyman in the Kansas City area as a Candy Vendor making many friends. 

Jerry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley; three sons, Rick (Claudia), Eudora, Kansas, Brad, Raytown, Missouri, and Jason of Kansas City, Missouri, five grand children; Nicholas, Aaron, Matthew, Madison, and Preston, and many friends, nieces and nephews. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Chauncey Evans, four brothers; Ursell, Wendall, Erman, Ed, and two sisters, Waneta and Virginia. 

We wish to thank the wonderful staff at the St. Luke’s Hospice House for his excellent care during his final days. There will be no services at the present time.
