Jerry Easley, 71, of Houston, TX passed away on January 15, 2022. Jerry was active and full of life until moments before he passed. For over 20 years he did not allow his battles with heart disease, diabetes or crippling back injuries to diminish his passion for life or stop him from pursuing his dreams.
Jerry was a recovering alcoholic and had been clean and sober since 1985, sponsoring many other troubled addicts through the years.
Jerry would interrupt any event or plan to help someone in need He would spend the day waiting with someone who was stranded on the side of the road; buy meals or gas for strangers in need and offer a helping hand wherever needed. Jerry was truly a man of God
Jerry was a loving husband to LaVerne "Cookie" Easley and told her many times that his purpose in their marriage was to enrich her spiritually and emotionally and to make her life better in every way he could.
Through the years Jerry had many careers including being a licensed electrician, owning an air-conditioning and heating company and ultimately becoming an IT Tech - as Technical Computer Support for major corporations. He would also rebuild himself a new computer every year with all new components and software.
Jerry loved riding bicycles - even riding the MS 150 until he had to stop because of his heart attack. He then got a motorcycle which was one of his passions that he stuck with as long as he could, riding less and less each year as his health would allow.
Jerry was born on January 19, 1950 to Evans Floyd Easley and Jewell Lee Easley in Vernon, Texas.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Cookie, his step-sons Jason (wife Robin & son Jason Jr.) and Mark Fields (wife Monica & son Logan & daughter Reese),
his siblings Kenneth, Carl and Nelda along with his favorite nephew Johnny and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry was cremated and had a private viewing with immediate family due to pandemic concerns. Some of his ashes have been spread in the Pacific Ocean by his best friend Greg and his remaining ashes will be spread by family at a future date to be determined.
