Jerry Dean Barnes died peacefully on February 10, 2020 in Hobart, OK at the age of 79.
Jerry is survived by a son Timothy Barnes, of Royse City, TX, a daughter Cassie Smith (husband Travis) of Tulsa, OK, five grandchildren Daniel Pope (wife Katie) of Lake Charles, LA, Paige Barnes of Vernon, TX, Carly Barnes of Rockwall, OK, Hannah Smith of Tulsa, OK , Joshua Smith of Tulsa, OK and one great grandchild. He is also survived by one sister Patricia Still of New Braunfels, TX and a brother Robert Barnes of Gordonville, TX. He is preceded in death by sons Kevin Dewayne Barnes, Kelly Ryan Barnes, granddaughter Bethany Sage Smith and brother Royce Rawls.
Jerry was born on October 22, 1940 in Vernon, TX to Cecil and Edna Barnes. He graduated from Vernon High School and worked for the Texas Department of Highways and Transportation for 39 years until retiring.
A memorial is scheduled for 10:00 AM February 22, 2020 at Woodlawn Assisted Living in Hobart, OK with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jerry’s life.
