Fred was born at home in Fort Blackmore, Virginia to Roxie Shelton on May 18, 1941. The family moved to North Hollywood when he was a young adult. He served his country as a United States Marine. His first marriage was to Rebecca Dowdy. They had two beautiful daughters Rhonda and Lori. In 1971 they moved to Simi Valley Ca.
