Jerome's obituary
Jerome Marvin “Jerry” Orenstein, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on October 7th, 2025 at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. He was 80 years old.
Jerry was born on November 26th, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Morris and Bertha (Shocket) Orenstein. As a young adult in Hyde Park, Jerry was a taxi cab driver, a life insurance agent, and served our country overseas as a part of the United States Coast Guard. After moving to Florida in the 80s, he served the city of Sunrise as a meter reader for nearly 25 years. He enjoyed his retirement to Jupiter, where he has resided since 2005. Jerry was known for his love of his hometown, Nancy Grace, ice cream, and My Way by Frank Sinatra, but nothing more so than his beloved chihuahua Genie, whom he is now happily reunited with. He was predeceased by his parents. Jerry is survived by his wife of 40+ years, Ellen (Shayne) Orenstein. Son, Richard Orenstein. Step-son, Howard McElwee. Step-daughter, Lisa Gerber. Step-grandchildren, Danyel LaFear, Jayna Gerber, and Elijah McElwee. Sister, Joanne (Orenstein) Siegel.
Memorial services will be planned for a later date. The family is accepting donations at 170 W Thatch Palm Cir in Jupiter, FL.
