Jerome Keith LaFountain passed away on Saturday July 13th, 2024 at the age of 86. He was surrounded by his wife Jean and his three daughters Debi, Heidi, and Kristin at his home in Sarasota Florida. 

Jerome was born in Royal Oak, Michigan and received his engineering degree from The University of Michigan. He shared his love for Michigan football with his two grandsons Nick and Nate who have many fond memories of watching the game with their grandpa. Jerome worked for General Motors most of his life in Michigan. He loved sailing and raced in several Port Huron to Mackinac races in his younger years with his friend Gary Kuntzman. He enjoyed golf and loved to relive his hole in one story from Prestwick Golf Club.  Jerome and Jean have been married 60 years and have enjoyed many wonderful travels with friends and family. He had many fond memories of childhood summers in the UP, traveling to Europe with the Gertzs, Glen Arbor with the Trubas, and several shenanigans with the Frazer family while vacationing in Florida. Jerome loved to tell his stories and one we heard quite often was the Thanksgiving turkey deep fryer fire on Casey Key with Tom Frazer.  Jerome has 4 grandchildren, Nicolas, Nathan, Sofia, and Skylar, and 3 great grandchildren, Cora, Cash, and Caden.  He modeled to his family a hard working father who loved his family and was always there for them.

The family will be privately spreading Jerome’s ashes in Michigan and Florida on the lake and ocean he loved.
