Jerry,

In particular, your consistent and persistent efforts to assist earth science students with their university education funding were a wonder.  On top of that you were a great friend over many years and are much  missed by me and your many other Toronto colleagues.

I was saddened by Jerry's passing, and I would like so send my condolences to his family and especially to Marilyn whom I met in Ireland in 2017 when they visited Ireland where Jerry had worked in the 70s.  

He always wanted to keep me in the loop and put me on the KEGS mailing list so that I was aware of events in Canada, and made every effort to involve me in geophysics events in Toronto.  He had a rich baritone voice and we joked about it being "a great voice for radio".   I didn't know about his knowledge of languages and his other interests, which made him such a unique and well-respected figure in our industry.
