This one stings. I'm an academic and Guerrero expert who spoke with Jeremy with some regularity. He could get into places in Guerrero that have become off-limits to me and I relished helping him with contacts and background and, best of all, getting his post trip debriefings. He wasn't the only journalist I worked with but his commitment to Guerrero and to getting the story right was unequalled. For a time I felt like he had become my eyes and ears. Don't know if it's true or not but Jeremy once told me that central characters in his novel were inspired by me and a friend in Guerrero who I put him in contact with. I stumbled onto this site after googling him. I hadn't heard from him in awhile and I feared he'd suffered some professional setback as so many journalists have of late. Finding this obit was like a punch in the gut. Elizabeth, we've not met but know that I'm sorry for your loss. Jeremy made the world a better place, and he'll be missed.

Jeremy was already an outstanding journalist when he was my student at Indiana University; I was so proud of the professional reporting he went on to do.

El 28 de octubre de 2025 se fue una persona que marcó mi vida para siempre. Más que un entrenador, fue alguien que me ayudó a seguir adelante cuando me sentía mal y no veía salida.
Gracias por todo, jeremy. Gracias por creer en mí, por apoyarme cuando lo necesitaba, por cada consejo, por cada enseñanza y por cada regalo que me dio con tanto cariño. Todo eso significó mucho para mí y nunca lo voy a olvidar.
Usted no solo me enseñó a pelear, también me enseñó a ser más fuerte como persona. Para mí era como un papá dentro y fuera de los entrenamientos, alguien que siempre estuvo ahí cuando más lo necesitaba.
Fue muy importante en mi vida y dejó una huella que nunca se va a borrar. Ahora que ya no está, no sabe lo mucho que me duele y lo vacío que se siente.
Pero siempre voy a llevar conmigo todo lo que me enseñó y todo lo que hizo por mí. Gracias por todo, Descansa en paz jeremy. Siempre te voy a recordar. 🕊️🥊

No tuve la dicha de conocer a Jeremy, pero se de primera fuente que fue un gran ser humano, pude darme cuenta de su entrega para con su familia esposa e hijastra, familiares y sus mascotas, que fue un hombre valiente, altruista y entregado a su vocación cómo profesional, cualidades y acciones que serán recordadas en este plano terrestre. Espero que sus almas se reencuentren cuando Dios así lo considere.
