Jeremy's obituary

Jeremy Shane Hawks, 45, went home to his heavenly Father on October 21, 2020.

Jeremy was born March 18, 1975, to Claude and Rita (Jochems) Hawks. He was raised at the family farm northwest of Chester and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended school in Chester and graduated from Chester High School in 1993. Jeremy graduated from the University of Montana with a BS degree in Business. While at UM he worked part-time in the box office, the Adams Center, and Washington Grizzly Stadium for a staff who became life-long friends. Over the years, Jeremy had several jobs. One memorable job was when he and his best friend Matt Smith worked at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah. He worked in ticketing for Boise Hawks Baseball, the Chicago Cubs, the Kansas City Royals, and Olympic ticketing in Vancouver, British Columbia. He also was the event manager for the Roanoke Event Center in Roanoke, Virginia. He returned to Missoula where he owned and operated Dr. PC for several years. He returned to the farm between jobs and was the family computer guru.

In 2019, Jeremy acknowledged he needed help and entered Rocky Mountain Treatment Center. He graduated and was immensely proud of his sobriety and the relationship and support in AA. Throughout his life, he enjoyed music and loved being outdoors camping, hiking, kayaking, golfing, ATVing and snow skiing. He also enjoyed family trips to Disneyland, Glacier National Park, NASCAR events, Arizona, Disney World, and Grizzly Football. For several years he, Matt Smith, and many friends enjoyed days at the Vern Mulligan Manhood Challenge at Sisters, Oregon.

Jeremy is survived by his parents, Claude and Rita Hawks; his sister Tammy (Jason) Hamma and their children Madeline and Emerson Hamma; his grandmothers, Frances Hawks and Jean Buffington; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jeremy was preceded in death by grandparents Leo Hawks, Robert and Frieda Jochems, and Don Buffington; and his aunt Wanda (Jim) Barry and their children Jamie and Carmen Barry.

Jeremy requested memorials be left to Trinity Lutheran Church, The Grizzly Scholarship Association, the University of Montana Foundation, The Montana Grizzly Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams in memory of Jeremy Hamma, The American Liver Foundation, The Focused Intensity Foundation (founded by Ryan Leaf to assist those who cannot afford treatment for addiction).
