Jeffrey's obituary

Mr. Jeffrey “JT” Thoms, born September 9, 1961, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on December 17, 2024 from a long struggle with cancer surrounded by family.

Jeff graduated from James Madison High School Milwaukee in 1980 and earned a BSBA from Cardinal Stritch University in 1993 that enabled him to become a successful Buyer for many organizations for over 35 years.  Not to mention being a business owner.

In 1982, Jeff’s first marriage blessed him with two children, Erik and Caitlin. On March 17, 2007, he married Laura Huiras, gaining four stepchildren—Bobbie Jo, Jennifer, Joshua, and Dustin—whom he remained love with until his passing.

Besides his family, Jeff enjoyed many things - a good cigar, smooth bourbon, a good classic movie, and a muscle car with attitude.  Jeff loved his 1967 GTO, that he built from the frame up.   Jeff also loved playing pool.  He played year-round , running leagues and playing locally, statewide, and nationally in Las Vegas.  He was especially proud of his team’s second-place finish at Nationals this past spring.  Jeff’s love for Christmas was infectious, and he looked forward to playing Santa every year.

“I did things that people only talk about and I did them regardless of the obstacles. Never give up.” As Walt Disney once said, “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.”

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife Laura; his children Erik Thoms and Caitlin (Curtis) Feuerstahler; stepchildren Bobbie (Kurt) Ploof, Jen (Jon) Stern, Josh Huiras, and Dustin (special friend Morgan) Huiras; sister Evelyn (Randy) Schmitt; grandchildren Savannah and Chase Ploof and Liam and Bennett Stern; and his loyal companion Duke.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the DawgHouse in Waubeka.
