Jeffrey's obituary

Jeffrey Paul McNulty, 61, of Morris, IL passed away on May 15, 2021 after a long, valiant battle with Huntington’s Disease.

Jeff was born on May 13, 1960 to Jo and John McNulty of Morris, IL. In 1976, he met Teresa Timmons, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. After graduating from Morris High School in 1978, he embarked on a fulfilling career as both a mechanic and a long haul trucker. Teresa and Jeff wed in 1986, and went on to have one child, Janell, in 1989. Jeff was ecstatic when his family grew by one after Janell married Becky in 2018.

Jeff loved the nights he spent drinking beer and playing foosball with his buddies. He was a lover of all music, especially classic rock, and enjoyed boating and playing euchre and poker. He also enjoyed working on projects around the house with Teresa. He had a prominent sweet tooth and was known affectionately as the one member of the family that would eat anything you put on his plate. Talkative and fun, he brought warmth to any room. Jeff was passionate about cars. He could take them apart and put them back together. Whether it was cars, motorcycles, or semi trucks, Jeff loved driving. One of his favorite places to drive was through the Rocky Mountains. He loved visiting the sandy beaches of Florida and spending time with his family in St. Louis while growing up. Jeff was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan from birth and became a Chicago Cubs fan later in life. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. He loved watching his daughter play sports and cheering his girl’s teams on. He also loved watching movies and going on vacations with his bonus daughter, Becky.

Jeff was easy going, loving, and caring. He never complained and was always honest and reliable. Despite his long battle with Huntington’s disease, he never voiced a single complaint about his struggles. His friends and family meant more to him than anything else in the world, and they were unendingly proud of him. Anyone who knew Jeff knew that he was the most loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend that anyone could ask for. He is reunited in Heaven with his parents Jo and John McNulty, brother Jim McNulty, parents in law Eleanor and Roger O’Brien, sister in law Joby Stubblefield, aunt and uncle Jean and Bill McNulty, friends Kim Maier and Don Hansen, and all of the cats and dogs that graced his life. He will one day be reunited with his wife Teresa McNulty, daughter Janell McBoom (Becky), brothers John McNulty (Cathy) and Jerry McNulty (Lisa), sister Jill Brock (Greg), sisters in law Lori Cousins (John), Nancy Tondini (Lou), Mary Timmons, and Jean Timmons, beloved nieces and nephews, and grandcats. His family would like to acknowledge the following friends as honorary pallbearers: Dean Morris, Steve Matteson, Joe Kiss, Bob Yard, Don Pitkins, Richard Chiounard, James Allen, and Jeff Verchimak.

An open house Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 22nd from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Moose Lodge in Morris. All are welcome to attend and raise a beer in Jeff’s honor. Please wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America or Pet Project of LaSalle County. They would like to thank the staff of Rush Movements Disorder Clinic, Morris Hospital, and Lightways (Joliet Area Community Hospice) for their care and kindness, as well as the village of family and friends that supported Jeff and his family on this journey. May we live every day with love and light, just like Jeff did.
