Jeff's obituary

In the charismatic voice of Jeffery Hazelbaker, I bid you all a fond farewell. It's been a thrilling, funny, and sometimes challenging journey, but I've always been the kind of guy who loved a good roller coaster ride. Born on September 1, 1976, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, I lived my life with enthusiasm and a dash of mischief. I moved around a bit, from Sanford, North Carolina to Grand Junction, Colorado, and finally to Denver, North Carolina, but no matter where I was, I was always reliably me. I spent 12 exciting years in the Food Production business, where I was fortunate enough to exercise my leadership skills and earn the respect of my colleagues.

I was never one for sitting still, so when I wasn't working, you'd find me outdoors hiking or indoors saving the world on a video game console. I had a penchant for making people laugh, a bit of a jokester you might say. And yes, I had a deep love for The Wizard of Oz. The tale of courage, heart, wisdom, and the journey home resonated deeply with me. It's not about the destination, but the journey, and the people you meet along the way that truly matter. In my journey, my family was my North Star. My beautiful wife Lisa, who put up with me for 21 wonderful years, and our incredible kids, Kirsten, Destiny, Austin, Makayla, and Wyatt. Oh, and let's not forget my granddaughters Ava and Alice, my bonus kids, and Aunt Deb.

In the grand scheme of things, I was not religious, but I was spiritual. I believed in something greater than us all, guiding and shaping our lives. This belief often reminded me of a quote, "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." And what an experience it has been. I've had the pleasure of being blessed with a loving family, a fulfilling career, and a community of friends and colleagues who enriched my life in ways I could never repay.

As I leave you all, I'm survived by my dear wife Lisa, my children and their partners, my granddaughters, my siblings Alex, Rhonda, Tim, and Ronald Jr., My Aunt Deb, Mother-in-law Teresa, and many other loved ones. I join my father, Ronald, my brother Shawn, and My Uncle William "Billy" in the great journey beyond.

In this shared space of memory and love, I invite you all to remember me as I was - a thoughtful man who loved life, family, and a good joke. I may have been a bit hardheaded at times, but I always strived to leave things better than I found them. Please, share your memories, your stories, and even your photos of our time on this memorial page. It's been a wonderful ride, my friends. Until we meet again, keep laughing, keep loving, and always remember, there's no place like home.
