Jeffrey's obituary

Jeffrey Colin Dundass, known to most as Jeff, and affectionately by family as “Buddy,” passed away on December 8, 2025, in Kamloops, British Columbia, at the age of 44.

Jeff was born on February 4, 1981, in St-Jérôme, Quebec. He spent his early years in Dunany, Quebec, before moving to Ottawa and later Metcalfe, Ontario. As a young adult, Jeff made his way west to British Columbia, where he drove a snowcat at Sun Peaks Resort and attended Thompson Rivers University, building a life in the mountains he came to love.

From an early age, Jeff had a fascination with construction, beginning with Tonka trucks and play job sites in sand piles beneath a tree fort, and growing into a lifelong passion for building on a grand scale. That early interest evolved into a meaningful career in heavy civil construction, where he applied his background in natural resource management. Jeff thrived on complexity, the bigger and more challenging the project, the better. He took great pride in executing complex work, operating heavy machinery, and leading large-scale projects, but just as importantly, he valued the people he worked alongside and the accomplishments they achieved together.

Jeff also had a deep love for farming and ranch life, beginning with a small hobby farm in Dunany, Quebec, and later raising Highland cattle as a teenager in Metcalfe, Ontario. After moving west to Kamloops, he remained closely connected to ranch life. He was passionate about agricultural economics and optimization, focusing on efficient land and water systems, field layout, and balancing water, pasture, and livestock, and took pride in the fences and pivots he built.

A loving father, son, brother, husband, uncle, cousin, and nephew, Jeff was known for his kindness and his willingness to help anyone he met. He rescued many animals and was deeply inclusive, often inviting friends to join family camping trips or meals at home. He was famous for his perfectly timed one-liners and his sense of humour, bringing laughter wherever he went.

Above all else, Jeff was a devoted father who took great pride in his four children, William, Tyson, Wyatt, and Penelope. He cared deeply about them and about his role as their father, valuing time spent together, shared experiences, and the responsibility that came with guiding and providing for them. He was proud of who they were and who they were becoming.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Rebecca Dundass (née Savoie), and his children, William, Tyson, Wyatt, and Penelope. He is also survived by his parents, Murray and Trish Dundass (née Leggett), his sister, Trudy Adams (née Dundass), and his brother, Casey Dundass (Jennifer).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Kamloops Alliance Church, 200 Leigh Road, Kamloops, BC. We recognize that winter travel to Kamloops can be challenging for many who wish to attend. For those unable to be with us in person, the service will be available to view online. Details will be shared closer to the date.
