Jeffrey's obituary
Mr. Jeffrey Wayne Carter, age 59, of Southport, NC died Thursday, June 26, 2025 at
Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Jeff was born
on November 8, 1965 to the late Betty Carter and Odell Carter in Sanford, NC. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Carter,
Conrad Carter and Billy Carter.
He is survived by his wife Christine Suzanne Carter, the mother of his children, Paula
Brown Martin, his son Tyler (T.J.) Carter (Andrea); his daughter, Emily Carter Ellis
(Jeff); his five grandchildren Brooklynn Carter, Riley Carter, Levi Carter, Olivia Ellis and
Adeline Ellis, his brothers Jackie Carter (Jean) and Warren Carter (Elaine), and his
sister, Carol Martindale, as well as a most of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Jeffrey was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who adored all his
grandchildren from both marriages. He was a golfer and gardener, an avid
outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and was a full-time volunteer at the Cape Fear
Rural Fire Department for 24 years. His larger-than-life heart was always in motion
donating food, money, and time to those who were in need. He will truly be missed.
Jeffrey’s family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him during his
long hospital stay, and all the friends and family who lifted him up in prayer during his
stubborn fight for life.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, July 1 st , 2025 @ 4:30 pm at Poplar
Springs United Methodist Church in Sanford, NC with Pastor Melvin Fallon officiating.
Church address is 1809 Poplar Springs Church Road Sanford, NC 27330.
The family will receive family and friends in the church fellowship hall following the
services.
Flowers may be sent after 12:00 p.m. on July 1st to Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, or in lieu of flowers,
donations may be made in Jeff’s name to Cape Fear Rural Fire Department, P.O. Box
399, Broadway, NC 27505.
