Jeffrey's obituary

Jeff Anderson, 67, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Marco Island, Florida.

Born in Ottawa, Illinois, Jeff built a life defined by dedication, curiosity, and love for those closest to him. He spent more than 33 years as an air traffic controller, a career that reflected his steady presence, sharp mind, and deep sense of responsibility.

Jeff was incredibly intelligent and had a gift for fixing just about anything. Earning him a reputation among family and friends as a bit of a “MacGyver.” He was always willing to lend a hand, never hesitating to help others, and he lived his life with a strong sense of doing things the right way. He was a true rule follower, someone people could count on for honesty and integrity.

He had a passion for the water and the sky. He loved boating and proudly earned his boat captain’s license, as well as his private pilot’s license, both lifelong goals he worked hard to achieve. Traveling brought him great joy, he loved the British Virgin Islands, and spending time with family, who were at the center of his life.

He was an avid sports fan who cheered faithfully for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Lightning, while always keeping a special place in his heart for the Chicago Cubs.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his daughter, Stefanie; his son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Robin; his stepdaughter, Stephanie, and son-in-law, Cory; his stepson, Zachary, and daughter-in-law, Megan; his sister, Sue; and his nine cherished grandchildren: Ava, Connor, Gavin, Noah, Isaac, Lily Jo, Lily Ann, Levi, and Rylie. Rylie’s middle name, Anderson, was given in honor of her beloved Papa.

Jeff will be remembered for his love of family, his adventurous spirit, his generosity, and the steady, capable presence he brought to every situation.

To me, he was my best friend, my confidant, my therapist, and my greatest love. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
