Jeffrey's obituary
Jeffrey Jason Pattenaude (JJ) aka “Jayson Daniels“ 52 of Morehead City N. C. died in his sleep in Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, June 5, 2022 in his semi, born in Dearborn, MI. to the late Arthur L and Noreen Pattenaude on March 5, 1970. Jay was ½ of the country music duo West & Daniels.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Ashley Faye, and siblings Chuck, Dale, and Sharon.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his longtime companion and fiancée Crystal Delaney of the home, daughter Hailey, sons Jayson and Cody, sisters Linda, Elena and Katy, brothers Lenny and Jerry all of Michigan. His special extended family Destiny Blockinger (Mike) of NC, Kayla Johns (Will) of IL, the Grandbabies of his life Chasitee, Mikey, and Delaney. Many special nieces and nephews, but he was especially close with his nephew Chris. A very dear friend & music partner Mike (West) Roberts who he shared many laughs, tears, and shows with. He leaves a host of family and friends across this great Country that he loved dearly and that loved him in return. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
Among his many accomplishments in life, he was especially proud of his musical career. With hits like “If That Ain’t Country” and “All Alone”. Jay lived his dream of being a Nashville recording artist, singer-songwriter. He toured many cities and states during his career. Jayson and Mike were signed to Hologram Records Nashville and Bluewater Production Management in 2005. They shared the stage with such acts as Rick Munro, Kentucky Headhunters, Darryl Worley, Kenny Chesney, to name a few. During his career, He performed on such stages as the historic Tootsie’s and the well renowned CMAs in Nashville, TN. They performed at many festivals such as the legendary Rock-a-hock music festival. During his music career, he had the honor of meeting some of his musical heroes while on tour such as Montgomery Gentry, Kid Rock, Molly Hatchet, and many more. Many cherished friendships were created during that time, such as his "Sissy, Jean Heywood, Mike and Karen Fann and John Galvin of Molly Hatchet.
In 2013 He and Crystal moved from Virginia Beach to the coastal area of N.C. to start a new chapter of their lives. He continued to play, write, and entertain, but, as with all of us, we must make decisions in life and in 2015 Jayson obtained his CDL certification and started his career as a professional driver with Leonard’s Express. He owes this opportunity to his dear friend Jake Depew. This allowed him to continue to see this beautiful country. On most of his west coast trips, he always made it a point to stop in at Buckles in Amarillo, TX. where he would play his guitar and entertain the crowd.
A memorial is set for Aug 26 in Taylor, MI @ Northwest Park 3pm and a celebration of life is planned at home in Morehead City, N.C. for September 26 on the beach at sunset, gathering of friends following @ The Tackle Box Tavern in Morehead City.
Memorials can be made in Jay’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project which was a cause very dear to him.
