My name is Joel. I am Jeff's oldest son of 19 years. It is Father's Day 2023 as I write this in my barracks room. A few days ago my girlfriend Kayla asked me if I would like to spend Father's Day with her family knowing that mine had passed the year prior. I respectfully declined knowing that I had one last thing I wanted to do with my Father. I wanted to share one last Father's Day Breakfast with him. And so I woke up and made his favorite Father's Day breakfast: Pancakes with real Canadian Syrup, along with scrambled eggs. An simple but remarkable breakfast.

Perfect for a simple but remarkable Father.

I love you Dad.

I didn't know Jeff so I very much appreciate the tributes and memories that were shared on this site. His family's and friend's words and the photos make me realize how beautiful and unique Jeff is. He continues to feel embraced by all of this love, and his family and friends continue to feel his love.
I've had many teachers in my life, but I never really had a mentor. It was only recently that I made the realization that Jeff was my mentor, and I've been glad to tell everyone whenever I get the chance. When I first joined KIXEYE, I came from an independent background and I had no idea what to expect. I was ready and willing to prove myself among professionals, and I knew I could, but I was still green all around. I was paired with Jeff, who I thought would be my immediate competition...but actually, it almost immediately turned into one of the best teams I've ever been a part of.
He didn't challenge or question my skills, he didn't want to or need to. Instead, he realized I needed guidance absolutely everywhere else instead, and he was more than willing to teach me what it meant to be a professional Game Designer. How to act, what to think, where to be, how to contribute, how to focus on what needs to be done. In the meantime, we became a solid two-man team that made every level in that game as enjoyable as we possibly could.
After KIXEYE, he was one of the few who kept in contact with me and wanted to help me succeed. We met for dinners, we spoke about jobs and qualifications, I showed him a lot of personal work I had done so he could give me honest critique. Then when the time finally came that I really needed a job, Jeff was more than willing to help me in the best way he possibly could.
He'll be sorely missed. His love for food, his quest for knowledge, his hunger for adventure. He was always willing to share his stories of the world I've never seen, and I've always dreamed of seeing the incredible sights he had the chance to see. Maybe one day.

I always enjoyed running into Jeff at the beach & around town. He was a kind, warm & funny person. His face always lit up when taking about his sons. I always appreciated Jeff for indulging my dog in his toe licking habit :)
Jeff was a special human & will be missed.

Jeff has been a great coworker and friend in the office. He wrote me in as a potential character in a game we were working on that never saw the light. I wanted to share his writing word for word for all to see: "Benedict "Benny" Chu acts like a celebrity - flashy, full of energy, always ready for fun - but when it's time for a job, he's as reliable as they come: cool, confident and deadly. Chu entered a life of crime almost without realizing it, growing up in a rough neighborhood with rough friends. But now that he's a mobster he finds he has a knack for it and wouldn't do anything else."That is just a snippet of the bountiful written creations he has made for us. I will miss Jeff's cheerful and friendly nature at work. His loss is felt. May he rest in peace playing board games and enjoying the afterlife.
