I currently work at the Math Learning Success Center on Oklahoma State’s campus, but encountered Jeff before my employment. Jeff was one of the most welcoming people I had ever met as a freshman on campus, he was an encourager, a listener, a light, and most of all an inspiration. Jeff is someone the World was blessed to have. His kindness forever impacted me and I strive to display just a few of the characteristics he showed daily. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.

I worked with Jeff as a tutor at the Mathematics Learning Success Center over the last two years. My favorite memory of him is actually on one of the first days I met him. It was at one of our staff meetings and Dr. Mills (The MLSC leader) was asking some of us to share our hobbies and what we loved to do with the group as an ice-breaking exercise. When she got to Jeff, his only answer was that he liked to tutor math. That always stuck with me, because no matter when I saw or spoke with him, he was always excited and passionate about helping students learn. He was a brilliant soul, and the world is a little dimmer now in his absence. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you grieve this tremendous loss, but take comfort in knowing that Jeff touched every soul he came into contact with through his exuberant spirit and the joy he found in life, and he remains in our hearts as we remember him. May you find peace, Jeff.
I worked with Jeff tutoring students in math. Jeff was always happy to jump in no matter how difficult the problem or the student. He thrived on helping people and always did it with a smile on his face. Always brought joy to the room.
I’ll miss him.
I knew Jeff from the Stillwater Church of Christ, and when I became the director of the Mathematics Learning Success Center in 2015, Jeff was working there as a tutor and coordinator. Jeff was always positive and upbeat and loved working with students. He especially liked working in the MLSC lab with lower-division students because he liked to see students succeed when they were not confident in their abilities, but he was certainly able to help most of the students who came in the center no matter whether they were in College Algebra or Calculus III. Jeff had a little fan that he would plug in under his desk or in the lab because he was always hot. He also (like all of the college students) loved it when there was free food at our meetings. Jeff liked to talk to me about what he was reading. He read a lot of C.S. Lewis and other commentaries. He talked a lot about his family and told stories about his days at OCC and NSU. I remember when he got his specially designed handgun and spent time at the shooting range. Jeff really should have written a book!

Jeff amazed me. There was nothing he could not do. He inspired me. Made me become a better person. He was involved in everything. Always at or volunteering for ever event on campus. A true servant. He looked to help others out. I loved playing billiards against him at the Community Center on campus. Now he seemed to beat me most of the time which of course I did not like. We both should of been in classes anyway- instead of there playing games. Plus I enjoyed flirting with all the girls with Jeff at OCC. I loved Jeff - even though we only spent 4 years together, they were life changing years. He made Troy Belyeu a better person.

I loved the friendship I experienced with Jeff during our teen years at church and school. He was always up for any activities going on and he was just a little bit ornery ;) I remember when he got in the driver’s side of my Jeep after church and started it up not realizing it was a stick shift. It bounced and jumped all the way to the sidewalk of the church building almost hitting the brick wall. Lol.

So sorry you are having to walk the grief journey. Love , hugs and prayers to all of the Smith family.
Jeff was always friendly and had a great smile. He was a special guy and will be greatly missed.
Jeff was a very kind, funny and inspiring individual. Glad to have known him.
Condolences to the entire Smith family.

I loved growing up in our youth group with Jeff. There was NOTHING he couldn't do or wouldn't try. He was such an inspiration to me as a younger brother in Christ. He loved to laugh!
Fond memories of growing up together! Jeff was never disabled and had a positive attitude about life! I will miss him
We are having a private family memorial in June at dad’s place in Colorado. We would love to have your memories of Jeff to share.
