Jeff's obituary
My only & youngest brother was mythical in both in life and legacy (two weeks ago, he died from a sudden stroke at 47). His entire aura was pure solar energy. And he had just met someone stellar who super charged his luminosity like no one else I’ve known.
I struggle to find the words to honor the infinity of his presence and worth to every life he touched but I’m convinced one of his old cruise shipmates said it best. “Have you ever met someone that was sunshine in human form?”
Whether you met Jeff Gordon four minutes ago or four decades ago, he was the sun central to our shared universe. He made it possible for all of us- mere mortal humans, his sons, his sister, near and far family, close friends, colleagues, animals- to exist.
His light and laughter was always on 24/7. He radiated electromagnetic positivity, fun, empathetic warmth, honesty, kindness, authenticity, vulnerability and high wattage love. His super powered heart emojis, cartoon videos, one-liner text streams, phone calls and corner couch conversations of encouragement shut down our daily inner doubts, boosted our self esteem, and illuminated our deepest hopes and dreams.
If there’s any solace, his ‘so bright you need sunglasses’ rays live on in others through his gift of #organdonation. His heart drum beats big in a man from Southern California and his kidney and liver saved a woman in Arizona.
Shine on, brother. Shine on.
Hope to meet you in the Milky Way someday… and may your beautiful Flash reach other galaxies
