Jeanette Marcum, 79 of Mentone, passed away in her home on October 9th 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 6 siblings. Jim Lewis, Jackie Lewis Jr, Johnny Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Janie Hamilton (Lewis), and Jesse Lewis Sr.

Born March 4, 1945 to James Jack Lewis and Pokey Lewis (Bentley) she married Vanis Marcum in Wise Virginia, on October 28th, 1961. The pair enjoyed a 40 year marriage, before his passing in 2001.

A Mentone resident since 2006, she retired from her career as a Qualified Medications Aid. She lived and loved to take care of everyone in her life. In her retirement, that care extended to all the stray animals of Mentone. She was lovingly known as the crazy cat lady.

She will be forever missed by her 4 children. Vanis Jr (Bessie) Marcum of Monterrey IN, Debbie (Paul) Shepherd of Rochester IN, Charolette Marcum of Mentone IN, and Tammy (Brian) Rich of Claypool IN., her 3 grandchildren Eric, Carrie, and Samantha Shepherd. 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous loved ones.

A celebration of life will take place at a yet to be announced date and time.
