Janet's obituary
Jeanetta Josephine (Tamer) Fitzgerald, aged 79, of Dumfries, Virginia, passed away 13 October 2025. Her husband was by her side.
Jeanetta was born in Norton, Virginia, to Joseph and Trulay Tamer, November 18, 1945.
She graduated from McLean High School in McLean, Virginia in 1963.
She married John Alfred Fitzgerald of Vienna, Virginia on 29 May 1966.
She graduated from George Washington University in 1968 with a degree in Accounting.
“Janet,” as she was known, was a dedicated and outstanding mother and homemaker, raising a husband and three girls.
She was a faithful member of the Heritage Baptist Church, Woodbridge, Virginia, a fixture in the nursery of the church attending to newborns and toddlers, a faithful supporter of the church’s Bible Builders ministry, and was a long-time member of the church choir. She was a mentor, and counselor, and guide to many younger women and girls, and a raconteur in the nursery.
She spent twenty years delivering the early morning Washington Post newspaper, from her car, in order to pay for Christian education for her three daughters.
Jeanetta is survived by her husband of 59 years, John, daughters Lara Baron, Jessica Thompson, and Erin Muessen, grandchildren John Baron, Jackson Baron, Kira Thompson, Madison Muessen, Braden Muessen and twin girls Corynn and Reagan Muessen.
