Jean's obituary

Jean Campe Vineyard (Jeannie) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on December 24th, 2023.

Jeannie was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 23, 1943 to the late Dr. James McCartney George and Betty Kough George. She is preceded in death by her sister, Joanne George Convard and survived by her brother James George.

Jeannie graduated from Winchester-Thurston High School in 1961. She then went on to Connecticut College, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Child Development.

She married her devoted husband, Thomas Vineyard, in 1988 in Charleston, WV. They later settled in Pittsburgh, PA to be close to family, where Jeannie became an avid Steelers fan.

She was committed to her career as a real estate and insurance broker in both West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Jeannie had a strong Christian faith that she carried with her throughout her life. She felt God’s presence eternally through music. She played the piano, was dedicated to a prominent singing group in Charleston, and was also an active member of the Weddington Methodist Church.  She regularly shared her compassion and faith to those in need as a Stephen Minister.

She was a loyal friend and cherished her life-long friendships. She thrived in social activities and was involved in book clubs, bridge and canasta groups, dinner clubs, and Sunday School.

Mostly, Jeannie found joy when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was proud of her family and instilled values of kindness, empathy, and love. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren develop new interests and hobbies, and just simply play in her backyard. She was there to support countless weddings, graduations, birthdays, and recitals.

“Jean Our Queen” had a light and love about her that was contagious. One of her most endearing qualities was her silly sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself. She never met a stranger and her kind heart will be remembered forever by all who knew and loved her.

Jeannie is survived by her husband, Thomas Vineyard, three children: Diana Zaldivar (Marc), Laura Rosbach (Derren), and David Campe (Lauren), as well as her three step-children April Vineyard, Jennifer Boykin (Jeremy), and Jessica Sciullo (Steve). She had 10 grandchildren: Maura, Benedum, Annie, and Matthew Zaldivar; Cyrus, Rowen, and Griffin Rosbach; and Hudson, Sydney, and Everly Campe, as well as five step-grandchildren, Elise and Ted Monroe, Carrie Boudreaux, Emily Vineyard, and Alayna Sciullo.

Her family welcomes donations to Via Health Partners (formally Hospice of Charlotte) 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226.
