Jean's obituary
Jean VanderHorst, a beacon of kindness, compassion, and perpetual joy, passed away on November 29, 2023. Born on May 2, 1940, Jean’s life was characterized by her unwavering generosity and love for others, a legacy that will continue to inspire all those who knew her.
One of her most significant achievements was her successful climb of Machu Picchu in Peru, a testament to her adventurous spirit and indomitable will. Professionally, Jean was an accomplished radiation physicist, a role in which she demonstrated her intelligence and commitment to making a difference in the world.
Jean's life lessons were simple yet profound. "Treat people with respect and kindness," she would often say, a principle she embodied in every facet of her life. She had an infectious smile that brightened the days of those around her, infusing each moment with warmth and positivity.
Jean is survived by her beloved daughter, Nicole McNevin, son-in-law, Skip McNevin and grandchildren, Ali, Kurtis, and Lucas. The bond between them was deep and characterized by mutual respect, love, and shared laughter. The memory of Jean’s radiant smile and infectious laughter will forever be cherished by all and will continue to provide comfort during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life ceremony for Jean will be held on January 26, 2024, at 3:00 PM at 3626 Hampstead Road, La Canada, California. It is a time for family, friends, and loved ones to come together, to share stories, and to honor Jean's beautiful and impactful life.
