In memory of a great medical …

In memory of a great medical physicist — with Jean, Jim Liu and Dr. Ken Lam
My memory of Jean is her goofiness. Always brings out the start of the day with a smile...

We sure miss Mom and her beautiful smile! So grateful that we had the honor to meet her and her beautiful family!

I was 25 years old and working as a chief Tech in San Diego when I met this tiny force of nature. She would drive monthly to do our physics and then ask me to have dinner with her. I wondered why the heck would she want to hang out with me instead of getting back on the road to LA after a busy day! I'd never had an older friend which turned out to be a complete mentorship/everlasting friendship.

She inspired me over and over, professionally as she worked out that if I went to Australia I would get dosimetry training for free instead of staying in the US and going back to school.I followed her advice and am still in Australia.

Personally, I had never tried hiking but was very athletic. Jean and Kurt invited me to hike with them near Joshua Tree. We had the most incredible time and once again Jean was showing me things I never done before.

She really was a huge part of my life and I looked forward to seeing her whenever she came to Australia. She came to watch my son play rugby and I felt so supported and happy to share with her. She was never fussy or discontented.......just the easiest person in the world to spend time together!

I think I will always strive to be like her. Jean was just this complete inspiration for me.......I will miss her so so much!

We were Aussies in California, strangers in a strange land and learnt that we had adapted vey well. Jean was intrepid.

We did Pilates together and would frequently go out for dinner after our class in wonderful restaurants.

She had a good sense of humor and we had many good laughs together.

Many thanks to her for sharing her love of music with me at the Decamera Society. It was so important for her and we had such a good time there.

We attended many LA Phil Meet the Musicians events at the Hollywood Bowl where we learnt how to position ourselves to make the most of the appetizers as well as the wine.!

We also did a Wiggle Waggle Walk with our Woody and Kurt and Clifford. She loved Clifford and was so proud of her daughter, Nicole. and 3 grandchildren.

She spoke of her husband, Kurt, with such love and respect and felt his spirit always.

A wonderful person! I was blessed to call her my friend.

Nicole and Family

What wonderful pictures of Jean, the family and when she was young.  I was so sad to hear she passed away my heart goes out to her family, she will be missed.  I think of all the great times we shared over our working careers and weekend lunches, teas with Carol and friends and the parties she hosted, lots of great shared memories, and fun times together.

Much Love

Nicole & family - I was sorry to hear that Jean had passed away. As you know I worked with her for many years at St Joe's. She was a very smart physicist and was a joy to work with. Her smile is what I'll remember most, and her pride in being an Australian.
