D. Jean Shaffer, 86, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at her home. Born April 11, 1933 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Donald J. and Ruth E. McKee Sheets. Her beloved husband, Donald S. Shaffer, preceded her in death on March 11, 2002.

Jean was a 1951 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as a cashier at Giant until her retirement in 1980. Jean was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg. She was an avid fan of Penn State and the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed reading. Her joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathie L. Mowen and husband Fred, Diane M. Abbott and husband Les, and Dawn M. deSalis and husband John, all of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Michael Sites, Todd Sites, Rebecca Jamison, Tiffany Overcash and Benjamin Overcash; six step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Carl McKee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 225 S. 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201, or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
