Jean's obituary

Partridge, Jean L. (Pearson) of North Falmouth passed peacefully on October 5, 2022 at age 94. She was predeceased in 1996 by her husband of 48 years, Willis M. Partridge Jr., and her sister, Nancy Fay Pearson, in 1953. She is survived by her four children; Douglas (Mary) Partridge of Whitinsville, MA, Bradford (Diane) Partridge of Jupiter FL, Nancy Partridge of Falmouth, MA, and Janet (Thomas) Duncan of Falmouth, MA, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.

Jeannie was born and raised in Brockton, MA and graduated from Brockton High School in 1945 with a full four-year scholarship to Bryn Mawr College where she earned a BA in German/minor in Music. Although he was also a Brockton native, she first met her husband Bill after he returned to Dartmouth College from serving in WWII with the Army, and they were married in 1949.

Jean was a spirited, intelligent, loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter. She raised her four children, was caregiver for her elderly parents and aunt, and dearly loved two dogs and four cats throughout her adult years. She adored her grandchildren; contributing to their educations, attending sports and musical events, loved their visits and receiving cards, artwork, videos and photos, and delighted in being with each of her fourteen great-grands. An Episcopalian all of her life, Jeannie was an active member of St Paul’s in Brockton, then St Andrew’s in Hanover and most recently St Barnabas in Falmouth. She was a prolific reader, loved world travel, all things musical (especially singing and dancing), crossword puzzles, good food, parties and her good friends. She was a VNA volunteer, a performer in the (Brockton Hospital) Guild Gaieties, member of the Brockton Ladies Fortnightly Club, an artist, a cook, sailor, needlepointer, bowler, bridge player, pianist, golfer and excellent hostess. She was active with the 18-hole Ladies group and served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Woods Hole Golf Club.

A celebration of her life will be planned for July 2023 in Falmouth, MA.
