Jean's obituary

Kansas City, Kansas - Jean Groff Magerl (89), passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024. She was born on October 11, 1934 to Harry and Zeta Groff. Jean married John Magerl, Jr. April 16th 1955. With this union they have seven children which survive her; Jim (Marsha), Shawnee, KS, Mary (Gene) Oregon City, TX, Richard (Diane) Bowling Green, KY, Kathy (John), Geralyn, Joe (Diana), Marc (Kelly) all of K.C. KS, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Therese of Grandview, Mo. Jean worked for Turner District for 20 years. Jean and John enjoyed going on midwestern motor coach which she was the hostess for 11 years. Jean is preceded in death by her parents; Harry and Zeta Groff, her husband; John Jr (54 years); Son in-law Rick; granddaughter Angela; three sisters Mary, Jewell, Agnes and brother Harry Jr. 

Jean has been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Kansas City Kansas since April 1955. Jean and John were very active members of the parish. 

The most important part of their lives were special occasions with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. 

There will be a visitation on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 5 –7 PM, with a Rosary starting at 5PM at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus, Sisters of Charity, BVM.
