Jean (Janet) Henderson, born Jean Janet Ausburn on July 14, 1944, in Paris, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home in Davenport, Florida, on February 18, 2026, where she has called home for the last 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daphna Mullen Ausburn and Arthur Gilbert Ausburn, and her brother, Arthur (Harold) Ausburn Jr.
Janet is survived by her devoted husband Richard Henderson, age 84, and her loving son, Kevin Henderson, age 56.
Janet grew up in Searcy Arkansas and later worked for the State Capitol in Little Rock. Janet’s life was guided by her strong belief in God and sustained by the love and strength of her family. She found joy in cooking for those she loved, decorating her home with care and creativity, and attending church whenever her health allowed.
On June 5, 1965, Janet married the love of her life, Richard Henderson, and moved to Texas. She lived in Corpus Christi with Richard, and they raised their son Kevin in McAllen, Pleasanton and Houston Texas. They remained constantly by each other’s side for over six decades, sharing a deep bond of love, companionship, and devotion. Together with their son Kevin in Florida, they traveled extensively across the USA, visited Europe, and on trips to the Caribbean—memories Janet treasured dearly. On those trips she loved geocaching and had countless fond memories along the way.
Despite difficult physical challenges, Janet’s spirit remained strong. She encouraged her family each day with advice, warm smiles, loving hugs and always putting their happiness before her own giving them strength they never thought they had.
