On October 14, 2021, Jean Pascall Baldauf of Chester, Maryland; previously of Bowie, Maryland, and Bayonne, New Jersey, passed away after a short illness. She was born Jean Letitia Pascall in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in 1927, and grew up in Metuchen. Jean graduated from Metuchen High School in 1945, where she was a varsity cheerleader and met her future husband, Harold Baldauf. She went on to graduate from the Berkeley Secretarial School in New York City. She and Harold, by then a Merchant Marine, married in 1946 and raised a son, Harold, Jr. ("Harry") and a daughter, Vicki. For many years, Jean lived in Piscataway, New Jersey, where, in addition to raising her children with her husband, she grew gladiolas commercially. Jean’s career was that of an executive secretary, and she retired as Secretary to the Provost, Rutgers-Newark, in 1995. Later in life, Jean was able to travel extensively through much of Europe and the United States. She was a highly-skilled knitter, who produced numerous quilts for family and friends, and a wonderful cook, who was known for her canned vegetables, sauces, jellies, and jams. Additionally, her Christmas cookies were loved by all. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Harold (1979), sisters Alice and Anne, and brother, Charles. She is survived by her son, Harold Jr. (“Harry” and wife, Tammy) of Chester, Maryland, and her daughter, Vicki Goralski (husband, Zygmunt, deceased) of Cranford, New Jersey; four grandchildren: Amanda, Andrew, Kristina, and Stefanie; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Jean’s life will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 400 New Market Road, Dunellen, New Jersey, at 11:00 a.m. on December 11. Jean will be interred at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, 606 South Randolphville Road, Piscataway, New Jersey, with her husband, Harold.
