Jayne's obituary

Jayne Criswell Carter, 77, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 18, 2022 after a difficult battle with cancer.

Jayne was born on June 12, 1944 to Howard and Vivian Criswell in Newcastle, PA.  After graduating from Neshannock High School 1962, she went on to study nursing at High Point. She worked as a registered nurse on the baby floor at Roper Hospital for 26 years.  She met Wilbur Ashley Carter, and they wed in 1966, going on to have two children, David Ashley Carter and Christopher Perry Carter.  Jayne loved her husband and boys very much and was a  wonderful mother and grandmother. Jayne was passionate about her family, her dogs, decorating, nature and photography.  When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found garage sale hunting and shopping. We will miss her greatly.

Jayne was predeceased by her brother, Lee Criswell of Newcastle, PA. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Wilbur Ashley Carter, Jr. of Ridgeville, SC, 2 sons  David (Denise) Carter of Beaufort, SC, Chris (Lane) Carter of Atlanta, GA, her 5 grandchildren Mason, Katelyn, Taylor, Chance and Will, sister Cathy Burley of Greensboro, NC and nephew Brandon (Kaci) Burley of Winston-Salem, NC.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, June 5 from 12-4 at Sweetgrass Pavilion at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park (99 Harry M. Hallman Jr Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464) Please join us to celebrate Jayne's life. Lunch to follow immediately. Please RSVP with your total family count so we can plan accordingly.
