Jaye's obituary

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Jaye Libby (nee Janet Libby) on November 25, 2021. Jaye was born on August 11, 1935 alongside her twin, Janis Michaud, the second oldest of eight siblings. She was the daughter of Glenice Brooks Libby and Ralston “Peanut” Libby, grew up in Vassalboro and was a longtime resident of Winslow and Waterville.

She was devoted to her family and loved them all unconditionally. Jaye was an avid reader of biographies and mysteries, loved opera, was a patron of the Waterville Opera House, and made amazing peanut butter fudge. A true social butterfly, Jaye made friends wherever she went. She had a lasting impact on the lives of so many. Jaye’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Mount Saint Joseph for caring for Jaye as one of their own.

She was a woman of faith and longstanding member of Getchell Street Baptist Church in Waterville, ME.   Jaye worked for many years for the State of Maine and retired from the Department of Environmental Protection in 1999.

She was predeceased by her first husband Stanley Warner Sr. and is survived by William Staples, her husband of 30 years. Jaye is also survived by her three children, Susan, Lynn, and Stanley “Lee” Warner Jr; grandchildren Libby LaRochelle and spouse Dan, Tamsen Brooke Warner and partner Ryan, Amber Morgan and spouse Justin, Christopher Warner, and Monica Misner and spouse Daniel; and great-grandchildren Bentley, Lilly-Anne, and River Misner. Jaye is survived by her siblings Gail McNally, Ellie Richardson, Lita York, Pamela Pamphrey and predeceased by her siblings Anita Wyman, Janis Michaud, and Edwin R. Libby.

A memorial service will be held at Falls Cemetery in Benton, Maine in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jaye’s honor can be made to the Winslow Public Library. We encourage anyone to share their condolences, favorite memories and photos on this website.
