Jay's obituary

On July 20, 2021, Jay Wooley entered heaven having been sent on his way with loving words from his family. Born on June 22, 1946 in West Palm Beach, Florida, he grew up in many places around the country as a “Navy brat” with his three siblings: Jeff, Millaine, and Joe.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma where he met the love of his life, Ann Dunn. In college, he served as the president of Model United Nations which is where Ann first caught a glimpse of him. He was the senior class president and received recognition in 1968 as the outstanding Navy ROTC student.
Jay and Ann married and with his Navy commission moved to Pensacola for flight training. Later he earned Top Gun. After serving twelve years, he went into the car business with his brother Jeff and worked as Vice President of Courtesy Auto Group until he retired.
He loved playing golf with his three doctor buddies and traveling the world with his wife, family, and friends. Since 1994 he enjoyed the lake view behind his house while wearing his white robe and white ball cap, drinking coffee, and reclining in his Lazy Boy.
Preceded in death by his brothers Jeff and Joe, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann; his sister Millaine; his daughter, Jana Flowers (Matt) and their children, Emma, Noah, and Lila; his son, Alex (Andrea), and their children, Adeline and Alexander. His grandchildren loved calling him Pappa Jay.
In 2015 Jay received a bilateral lung transplant at Tampa General. The transplant gave Jay 6 wonderful years.  He got to meet his two youngest grandchildren, attend school, sports and events for his older three grandchildren, attend numerous family and friend gatherings, play golf twice a week, talk on the phone every day at 4:30 pm with his best friend.  Jay lived life to the fullest and was grateful for every moment. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tampa Covenant Church at tccinfo@tampacovenant.org or Compassion International at compassion.com.
Local services will be August 8, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Tampa Covenant Church 13320 Lake Magdalene Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33618.
