Ric, Linda, John and Jay in the River Run gondola. Free the Heel!
On a recent ski trip we talked about how we met Jay. In my case it was August 1984 at the annual House of Buoys (HOB) party at a waterfront home 5 of us rented in Seattle. Jay had recently started at CH2MHill in Seattle, and joined Fort Wayners Willie and John to bring Big Midwest energy to the beach party. His sense of adventure and appetite for fun was contagious, and we all enjoyed every activity (HOB parties, Climbs, Ski Trips, Twisp Bobsled parties) just a little bit more when he was there.
In response to "What did Jay love to do?"

I really appreciated all the times I was able to spend with Jay, sure learned a lot just by being around him.  He will be missed but he left quite a legacy.  Enjoy every sandwich.
Jay was the best mentor I ever had. He was patient, knowledgeable, and kind. He made me a better engineer, but an even better person.

Chloe, Grace, Olivia, and Avery- thank you for sharing your beloved father with me for the short time I lived in Seattle. My fondest memories were camping in your backyard and struggling up Doomsday Hill, while enjoying the company of friends.  The laughter and shared meals were a delight to my heart. Jay and Chloe made me feel like I was part of the family of dear friends ❤️ My surprise dinner when I came back for a visit will be a remembered always. May God wrap His loving arms around you in this time of loss. Love and prayers 🙏🏼
Jay and John came for a visit and a weekend of riding some of my favorite trails. So many wonderful memories with Jay. We had met early in grade school and remained close thru our adult lives.  I will miss you my Brother.
I had the pleasure of working with Jay on a project that lasted several years. We traveled to the project site many times and during these trips we were able to share about our families, Midwest backgrounds, lake life, and of course work. I had so much respect for Jay professionally and personally. I am sad for his family and friends, for all of us, because even though he was so giving of his time and wisdom it was not nearly enough.
