It is hard to sum up 38 years of friendship in a few sentences, but hopefully the photos I am adding will convey some of the good times we have had over the years.  I am so lucky to have been part of this extended group of friends where the bonds of love have lasted through all of life's stages and events.  Jay will be sorely missed by us all, but our love for him and his family is deeply embedded in the hearts of my whole family.

To Grace and family, My thoughts have been with your family and Jay since finding out about his passing a week ago.  Your Dad was a buddy of mine throughout grade school.  And your Dad, Steve, Brian, ran around together when at St Jude.  We shared sports, friendship, and afternoons just running around.  I lost my vision at 14 and had to go away to a boarding school but have considered your Dad and others friends throughout my life.  The friends you knew at that age always remain in your heart.  Beautiful obituary.  After reading it I realized I just knew the grade school version of that person.  Your Dad was a good athlete and a good person.  Jon Sharpe

Ralph Waldo Emerson/Bessie A. Stanley: “To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived — that is to have succeeded.”

I am lucky to have had Jay as a colleague and friend for more than 30 years. His family, his work, and his friends are evidence that he left the world more than a bit better.

Here's to the ones that we got

Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

Of everything we've been through

Toast to the ones here today

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

There's a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain

When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same

Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name

'Cause I can't reach out to call you, but I know I will one day, yeah

Everybody hurts sometimes

Everybody hurts someday, ayy-ayy

But everything gon' be alright

Go and raise a glass and say, ayy

Here's to the ones that we got

Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

Of everything we've been through

Toast to the ones here today

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo

Memories bring back, memories bring back you

There's a time that I remember when I never felt so lost

When I felt all of the hatred was too powerful to stop (ooh, yeah)

Now my heart feel like an ember and it's lighting up the dark

I'll carry these torches for ya and you know I'll never drop, yeah

Everybody hurts sometimes

Everybody hurts someday, ayy-ayy

But everything gon' be alright

Go and raise a glass and say, ayy

Here's to the ones that we got (oh-oh)

Cheers to the wish you were here, but you're not

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories

Of everything we've been through (no, no)

Toast to the ones here today (ayy)

Toast to the ones that we lost on the way

'Cause the drinks bring back all the memories (ayy)

And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo

Memories bring back, memories bring back you

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo (ooh, yeah)

Memories bring back, memories bring back you

Yeah, yeah, yeah

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no

Memories bring back, memories bring back you
