What a wonderful tribute to a life so well lived. I had the privilege of getting to know Jay in recent years on a construction project – he didn’t need to take the role (and maybe at the beginning didn’t really want it!), but his expertise, knowledge, leadership, humor, and so many other positive qualities were exactly what we needed. I knew him only a short time and in only one aspect of his life, but when I read this tribute – I recognize what I knew of him in the description of every other part of his life. His was a life truly well lived, and he leaves behind so many people who looked up to him, respected him, laughed with him, learned from him, and I’m grateful I can say I was one of them. He will be greatly missed.
I had the privilege to work with Jay on several projects at Jacobs/CH2M. Jay was always the first to listen to others and worked very hard to build a team consensus to resolve an issue. Jay was so kind and respectful in every interaction I had with him. It was very evident when I spoke with him that  he cared deeply about his work and his family.  My deepest sympathies to his family. He will be missed.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jay’s passing.  What a beautifully written tribute of his life.  Jay  was a true friend to all, and taught me so much through his actions, and the way he lived his life, and loved his family.  Jay was one of my first mentors- me in my 20’s and Jay so much wiser in his early 30’s!   I felt like we were making BIG decisions back then, and I always sought Jay’s advice.  He was practical, thoughtful, respected, kind and fun to be around.  What more could you want in life - we will all miss his smile and positive engagement he brought to all our lives.  All my best to Chloe, Gracie, Olivia and Avery during this difficult time.  Love Roger & Patricia Flint
Those of us who grew up in CH2M were trained in "servant leadership". Does the team need advocacy with the client? Does the team need mentoring? Does the team need cover from senior management? Does the team need to know their contributions are recognized and valued? In my 32 years at CH2M, Jay best personified servant leadership. He did not speak the loudest or seek the spotlight, but he cared deeply about his work, his clients and his team. He led us to achieve great things with urgency, determination, and kindness. He was such a wonderful example. I can only imagine how much he meant to his family. My heart is broken for your loss. Just know Jay was loved and admired; and his legacy lives on through those of us he so profoundly impacted.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the passing of Jay. As an older cousin from a large extended family, I was impressed with Jay’s kindness and ability to connect with others. He stood out as a thoughtful, smart, exceptional person. May he rest in peace.

Jay was a lifelong companion. The challenge he found in the outdoors fed his thirst for hard work and just rewards. He found peace amongst trees and along the trails. Jay carried a go-for-it attitude, especially for the goal - a summit or a high camp. And, at the same time, it was all about camaraderie. Rest well, my brother Jay

Guessing at the year. He was a handsome lad. Our hair was long as Seniors, not sure it was this long...
I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Jay over many years. He was a Renaissance Man with a playful, sometimes irreverent, and ever-present sense of humor.  Thoughtful, kind, a great engineer, and a respected colleague.  I send my sincere condolences to everyone who was lucky enough to love this wonderful man.
